shit…do you want to take down the dialogue in which it states that the american dead on iraq will top 1000 within a month. i didn’t know it would happen the next day…

fellow speculatrix

none of the major news outlets have posted that, but i did see an “including one american” headline after a mention of “999″. has sisyphean scooped the ny times?

unfortunately:

BAGHDAD, Iraq - As U.S. forces again battled insurgents loyal to Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, U.S. military deaths in the Iraq campaign passed 1,000 on Tuesday, according to an Associated Press tally. The Associated Press
Updated: 4:46 p.m. ET Sept. 7, 2004

the ny times has long been totally discredited. i assume that you were reading it for the lifestyle + arts section. i doubt wolfowitz knows what the death toll is, since those guys don’t give a shit.

“Most Americans are in a stupor and they’re not following this (body count). They’ll feel different though when it’s their own child,” said Jane Bright, of West Hills. Her son, Army Sgt. Evan Ashcraft died in July in an ambush in northern Iraq.

“Unless you’re lost a child there’s no way to understand what it’s like,” she continued. ” … Not only is there this terrible void and emptiness, and this pain I see in my other son’s eyes — there’s also this misrepresentation and obfuscation of the war happening at the same time. It’s incredibly painful. I don’t have words in my vocabulary to describe it.”

‘obfuscation’ is a good one… was that the word of the day? what a bunch of skulduggery!

i was struck that she would describe her predicament so eloquently and then state that she lacks a vocabulary. i wish she was president.

what am i looking at here?

did you scratch out ‘atlanta ia’ and ‘david green’ to replace it with ‘pamphlet’ and ‘megan’?

i have not received an official rejection letter from the aiaga yet. hopefully their phrasing will be slightly less condescending.
